The White House resident and a few Senators would love it if, we the people, are so fatigued by this crew’s low, medium and high crimes and misdemeanors, that we tune out of each new bombshell revelation of their misdeeds.
The preferred received wisdom at any given moment is that the Democrats are losing the narrative (e.g the Mueller Report and the varying television ratings of the House Impeachment hearings.)
The nation’s appointed hand wringers, say, so what about the credibility of the whistleblower and the eloquence of the whistle orchestra or the mountain of evidence, or the shredding of our Constitution and the destruction of our democratic norms, it’s all about the ratings. Is anyone paying attention?
The answer is yes.
People are paying close attention to the crime wave happening in their White House.
'Rachel Maddow Show' Hits All-Time High With Lev Parnas InterviewThe MSNBC show was the most-watched program on cable Wednesday and beat a number of broadcast shows as well.
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show drew its largest audience ever Wednesday night.
Maddow's interview with Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas, a figure in the impeachment of President Donald Trump, averaged 4.47 million viewers, the program's largest audience in its 11-year history. It surpasses the 4.13 million who tuned in to a March 2017 edition on which Maddow revealed a small portion of Trump's 2005 tax return.
The show was the most-watched program on cable Wednesday night by a decent margin and beat the 9 p.m. averages for broadcasters ABC and Fox, as well. The Rachel Maddow Show scored its biggest margin of victory over Fox News' Hannity (3.79 million) in months. MSNBC also had more than four times as many viewers as CNN's Cuomo
If Sen. Mitch McConnell, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Sen. Susan Collins, Rep. Kevin McCarthy and Fox were banking on people tuning out, or seeing this Impeachment as just political theater; just another example of a Washington D.C. that would be ignored and dismissed, they will need to re-think that strategy, as the trial for the future of the country begins, and the people are paying close attention.
