Roseanne did a podcast and broke down in tears, saying that she has lost everything and that she never meant anything racist in her racist tweet that got her show cancelled.
The former Roseanne star stated that she definitely feels "remorse" for her post that likened Jarrett to a child of “Muslim brotherhood” and “Planet of the Apes,” before audibly breaking down in tears. She also said she didn't know Jarrett was a black woman.
“I’m a lot of things. I’m a loudmouth and all that stuff, but I’m not stupid, for God’s sake," she stressed. "I never would have wittingly called any black person… say they are a monkey. I never would do that! And I didn’t do that."
I’m going to stop you right there Roseanne.
Your comments about Valerie Jarrett were the second time, that we know of, where you called a black woman out of her name.
It isn't the first time she has been accused of being racist on the social media platform, tweeting that [Susan] Rice was 'a big man with swinging ape balls,' in 2013.
So now we see that you are an uncareful liar. Also, let’s note what you did not say.
I’m a lot of things. I’m a loudmouth and all that stuff, but I’m not stupid.
You didn’t say you weren’t racist. You just said your weren’t stupid.
Being stupid enough to reveal your racism, is worse than being racist to you. Got it.
Please proceed with your career rehabilitation tour.
"I have black children in my family. I can't let 'em say these things about me after 30 years of my putting my family and my health and my livelihood at risk to stand up for people."
Ah, the ‘some of my best family members are black’ shield.
Slave-owners had black family members too.
However, that biographical detail did not absolve them of their acutely problematic relationship with African Americans.
Do go on, Roseanne.
Barr revealed once again that the upsetting tweet was posted in the early hour of 2 a.m. while she was on Ambien, admitting that while it's "no excuse," she was indeed “impaired.”
Ambien has previously responded to Roseanne’s accusations about their product.
After tweeting that her sleep aide medication contributed to her racist remark, Sanofi -- the pharmaceutical company behind Ambien -- released their own statement on Twitter.
"People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world," reads the statement. "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication."
Ambien #StaysWoke.
Meanwhile Roseanne cries and lies as her chance at rehab, dies.
But hey there’s a Roseanne-free spinoff that is giving the cast a second life.
The Conners will feature John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, and Michael Fishman in the roles they originally played on Roseanne. But Barr won’t have any financial or creative input into the new series, after she reached an agreement with the team behind the show.
Executive producer Tom Werner also released a statement about the spinoff, saying, “We are grateful to have reached this agreement to keep our team working as we continue to explore stories of the Conner family.”
Awesome.
A spin off from all the cast members and team who looked the other way and signed on for the reboot with this known racist and conspiracy theorist, in the first place.
I will be sure not to stay tuned for this continuing saga.
