I Think Infighting is Always Good for the Party

I wholeheartedly support party infighting when it’s Republicans going after each other.

It amazes me how a mere excerpt from a book, a supposedly dead form of media, can spark a feud among people who share the same party label and generally the same political goals.

Fortunately we Democrats are above such things, but alas the Republicans are not.

The new book, that is about to start a multi-day hot war within the GOP, is called “The Last Republicans.”

The misleadingly hopeful title, is actually about the political story of George H.W. Bush and Bush, Jr.

The title was inspired by a quote from W.

"George W. Bush himself said in 2016 privately, and then to me, that 'you know, I fear that I will be the last Republican president.' And it wasn't just about Hillary Clinton becoming president, as the Republican Party was having a difficult time finding itself. It was because Donald Trump represented everything that the Bushes abhorred," the author told CNN.

The excerpt that is getting the buzz, is when President 41 unabashedly disses Resident 45:

Trump Is a ‘Blowhard,’‘I Don’t Like Him’ and I Voted for Hillary, George Bush Says in New Book

Both former President Bushes had choice words for current President Donald Trump in a new book scheduled to be published later this month, with the elder Bush reportedly calling the billionaire commander-in-chief a “blowhard” and flatly stating he does not “like” him.

Presidents George Bush and George W. Bush, the 41st and 43rd top executives respectively, spoke to author Mark K. Updegrove for the book “The Last Republicans.” It detailed the relationship between the father-and-son presidents and how they were fretful of what Trump had done to the Republican Party.

Furthermore, both ex-presidents admitted they did not vote for Trump. The elder Bush pulled the lever for Democrat Hillary Clinton while the younger told Updegrove he voted for “none of the above.”

The Trump War Room* has fired back.

(*Since Day One, the Trump War Room gets most of the administration’s attention and resources. This explains why you don’t hear too much from the Significant Legislative Accomplishment room.)

In response to the Bushes' comments, a White House official told CNN: "If one presidential candidate can disassemble a political party, it speaks volumes about how strong a legacy its past two presidents really had. And that begins with the Iraq war, one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes in American history."

For the good the of the country, I wholeheartedly support this vitriolic, political party infighting, based on an excerpt from a book that nobody is likely to buy or read.
